SHARE Center Virtual Student Market Study Competition
Who: Student teams from some of the top Hospitality and Tourism Programs from Universities and Colleges around the world.
What: An opportunity for students to showcase their knowledge and research ability. Each team will be tasked with conducting a Market Study on a city/market of their choice using STR data. Schools may enter a team in the undergraduate division, graduate division, or one team in each. Other students, professors, industry professionals, and recruiters will be invited to join the online finalist presentations.
How: Teams will receive training material on not only how to conduct a Market Study but also on how to analyze and communicate their findings in a professional presentation. Each team will submit a video of their team presentation. Finalist will be selected in both undergraduate and graduate divisions. Those selected teams will then present online to a panel of senior level industry judges. Plaques will be awarded to finalist teams and the top team in each division will receive a $1,000 USD cash prize.
Why: We at STR believe it is important that young professionals have the ability to analyze and interpret different types of data and information. In addition to understanding the data, they should also be able tell a story that will inform and enable others to make decisions based upon the insights they have provided. This competition emphasizes teamwork, analytical expertise, critical thinking, and presentation skills.
When: Registration is now open through 4 September 2020.
- Teams begin submitting Market selections on 21 August 2020
- Presentations must be submitted for evaluation by 30 October 2020
- Undergraduate finalist teams present on 21 November 2020
- Graduate finalist teams present on 22 November 2020
- Winners and final placements announced online on 22 November 2020
