Speaker Profiles
Robin Rossmann
Robin Rossmann leads STR's international operations and business development. He is focused on continually improving how STR provides the hotel industry with robust and insightful performance benchmarking that enables stakeholders to make better decisions. Prior to STR, Robin was a Senior Director in Deloitte's Global Hospitality Advisory Team in London. During his 13 years with Deloitte, he advised leading hotel brands, operators, investors, and lenders in major global markets. Robin's wide range of experience includes advising on hotel strategy, business planning, investment appraisall, market reviews, financial and commercial due diligence, IPOs, debt advisory, valuation, financial assurance, controls improvement and risk management.
Thomas Emanuel
Thomas Emanuel leads STR's business development and relations with industry stakeholders. He has spent his entire career in the hospitality industry, both at the corporate and unit levels with Hyatt Hotels & Resorts. In 2006, Thomas joined Deloitte's HotelBenchmark where he worked until the team transferred to STR in 2008. An expert on hotel performance data and trends, Thomas regularly attends and presents at client events and conferences around the globe, and has been interviewed by news outlets including Bloomberg, CNN, CNBC, and various tourism and hospitality industry publications.
Jesper Palmqvist
Jesper Palmqvist is based in Singapore as Area Director Asia Pacific for STR - leading the company and regional team in sales, strategy and development for the wider region. He has more than 20 years of experience in both supplier and aggregator sides in hospitality, online travel and IT through various verticals in regional European IT start-ups and hotel chains, as well as global companies such as Orbitz Worldwide, Wyndham Hotel Group and Groupon. As a strong supporter of big data facilitation, Jesper works to increase the engagement in data intelligence and clarify the decision making for hospitality, research and investment companies in Asia Pacific. Jesper frequently presents the latest trends and updates at industry events in the region.
Bernard Kee
Bernard Kee is based in Singapore and leads STR's Southeast Asia region primarily focused on hospitality-related development, and providing partners with the regional perspective to make informed planning decisions. He has a wealth of experience in developing businesses and building robust strategic partner relationships. Bernard started his career in banking before moving to the tourism sector and has been in airlines, hotels and online travel businesses for over 13 years. Much of his travel career was with Orbitz Worldwide Corporation. Bernard holds a post-graduate diploma in marketing and a degree in media management & communications from the University of South Australia.
Fernady Uriarte
Fenady Uriarte is STR’s Business Development Manager for Southeast Asia. Based in STR’s regional office in Singapore, she has over 12 years of experience in hospitality and real estate with global brands including Mandarin Oriental Group, Las Vegas Sands Corporation, Raffles Hotel Singapore and Century Properties Group Inc. Fenady graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Communication from De La Salle University and has a Certification in Revenue Management from Cornell University and Hotel Industry Analytics from the American Hotel and Lodging Association. Fenady frequently presents the latest trends and updates at industry events in Southeast Asia.
Ding Suk Peng
Ding Suk Peng is a Director with PwC Myanmar who is currently based in Myanmar. She specialises in taxation and investment related regulatory issues in Myanmar. Suk Peng has in exccess of 12 years of experience in corporate tax planning, restructuring and due diligence for a diversified portfolio of clients including public listed companies and multi-national companies in Myanmar, Singapore and Malaysia. Suk Peng has advised many multi-national companies on tax structuring for investment into Myanmar and has also handled numerous Myanmar projects including tax due diligence and inbound tax structuring advice to multi-national companies. Suk Peng is also responsible for Myanmar tax compliance for many companies covering both direct and indirect taxes. Her portfolio of clients includes companies in the real estate, telecommunications, energy power, banking and manufacturing sectors. Suk Peng graduated from Murdoch University, with a Bachelor of Commerce. She is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA).
Ratha Pov
Ratha Pov is an Associate Director of PwC Cambodia's tax and consulting practice. He has over 10 years of professional experience in providing tax compliance and consulting, and corporate and employment advisory services across various industries such as real estate, construction, airlines, tourism, banking, garment and textile manufacturing and services in Cambodia. Ratha also has extensive experience in tax complience review, tax due diligence, tax audit and tax efficient corporate structuring. He is fluent in Khmer, English and Chinese, and holds a Bachelor of Economics, specialised in Finance and Banking and a Bachelor of Business Administration.
Damien Little
Damien Little is a Director of Horwath HTL in Asia and is based in the Singapore office. He has previously been based in both the Beijing and Hong Kong offices of Horwath HTL, having worked for the company for the last 16 years. Damien has 18 years of consulting experience and has significant experience in financial modeling. During this time he has undertaken hotel related projects in 17 countries across the Asia Pacific region, being involved in more than 400 projects. Damien has been involved in projects across all industry segments, including 5 star city hotels, luxury island resorts, golf resort properties, mid-scale regional hotels, budget hotels, backpacker accommodation, restaurants and clubs. He has significant experience in the China market having traveled to more than 70 cities across the country. Prior to joining Horwath HTL in 2001, Damien worked for both Arthur Andersen and PricewaterhouseCoopers in Sydney, Australia. He is also a frequent speaker in industry related conferences around the region and has published numerous research articles in regional industry publications.
Teo Wee Hwee
Teo Wee Hwee is PwC Singapore's Real Estate Tax Leader specialising in the area of fund structuring, REIT and tax minimisation strategies for real estate and infrastrucutre investments across Asia Pacific. He has been with the firm for more than 20 years and has advised clients on cross-border transactions including countries such as Australia, China, India, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Korea, Malaysia etc. He is a frequent speaker on real estate tax-related topics and has spoken at several workshops and seminars organised by the Asia Pacific Real Estate Associations, the National University of Singapore and the Real Estate Developers Association of Singapore. Wee Hwee is an Accredited Tax Advisor, the highest level of qualification issued by the Singapore Institute of Accredited Tax Professionals.
Sophie Mougel
Sophie Mougel recently joined the Development team of the InterContinental Hotel Group ("IHG") where she is supporting the Development teams efforts by spearheading the Development Planning & Marketing functions. Sophie has also been passionate about the various aspects of the hospitality industry and has dedicated her entire higher education and 15 year career, from early positions in actual hotel operations through to the multi-facetted role she now plays as part of IHG, to building upon her knowledge of the sector. Sophie is based out of IHG's Asia, Middle East & Africa office in Singapore where she has worked for the last 7 years, having relocated from Sydney where she spent the formative years of her career.
