Kiev hotels see occupancy growth
In addition to hosting the Eurovision Song Contest from 9-14 May, which is likely to show further performance increases when monthly data for May becomes available, hotels in the Ukrainian capital are on an upward trend so far this year.
Compared with the first four months of 2016, Kiev posted a 15.3% increase in occupancy to an actual level of 48.0%. Tied with a 2.2% growth in average daily rate (ADR) to UAH 2,703.31, revenue per available room for the city rose 17.8% to UAH 1,297.10.
On another note, Lisbon, the capital city for the 2017 Eurovision champion country, is also experiencing strong hotel performance growth this year. April year-to-date data shows an 11.0% increase in occupancy to 69.0% and a 10.0% increase in ADR to EUR 97.60. The city has posted nine consecutive months of RevPAR growth, and will host the competition in 2018.
